Ceremonial Cacao: Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What makes ceremonial cacao different from regular cacao?
Ceremonial cacao is minimally processed and crafted with intention to preserve its natural energetic and health benefits. Unlike regular cacao or cocoa powder, it is made from heirloom cacao beans that are fermented, dried, and ground into a pure, rich paste. This allows ceremonial cacao to retain its full spectrum of nutrients, antioxidants, and theobromine, as well as its profound ability to support emotional and spiritual practices.
2. How often should I drink cacao?
The frequency depends on your personal intentions and needs. Many people enjoy cacao as a daily morning ritual to start their day with clarity and energy. Others reserve it for special moments, such as meditation, journaling, or ceremonies. As a plant medicine, it’s best to listen to your body—some may benefit from daily use, while others find that 2-3 times per week is ideal for maintaining balance.

10. Important Health Information about Cacao
Cacao is a bitter:
100% pure cacao is bitter. As with any bitter, too much can make you nauseous. Start small and build it up. Over time, as your body attunes to the cacao, you may find that you need less cacao to feel the healing and heart opening benefits. Pay attention to what your body is telling you.
Antidepressants:
Depending on dosage, SSRI antidepressants and anti-psychotics are not compatible with the MAOI's (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors) in cacao. Low to average doses should be ok but check with your doctor.
Heart Rate:
Cacao will raise your heart rate slightly. If an increase in your heart rate could cause a medical problem, drink less. Check with your doctor.
Blood Pressure:
Many folks with low blood pressure tell Keith that our cacao (low-caffeine) stabilizes their heart and helps them. Check with your doctor.
Other substances with your cacao:
